Challenge

New York City was one of the hardest hit areas early-on in the pandemic. Theatres were forced to close, and still haven’t fully come back.

Insight

Musical theatre is an immersive event. But could it still be possible to make some noise in the right circles socially and through merchandise sales?

Solution

A social campaign to create awareness within the LGBTQ community that helped raise funds for a virtual version of the production. The musical received added endorsement and support from the 80’s band, Erasure.

In the early days of the pandemic, New York City was one of the most affected areas. Most industries were impacted, with the theatre district taking a huge brunt of it. Oh L’Amour is a musical featuring songs from the iconic 80’s band, Erasure. But due to Covid, live performances had to be put on hold. With the goal of taking the show virtual, The Art Of Good helped by creating a social campaign with the empowering message “Be Who You Wanna Be” geared towards the LGBTQ community. In less than two weeks, social posts were created that led to an IndieGOGO page where people can continue to donate funds towards the online production in exchange for some fantastic Oh L’Amour swag. The show has benefitted from the endorsement and support of the members of Erasure.
